The Graduate Diploma in Nursing Science offers registered nurses the opportunity to extend their career in the specialisation area of their choice. The Oncology Nursing specialisation is ideal for nurses who are currently practising oncology nursing and wish to further develop their professional knowledge and understanding in this area.
Students are exposed to current theoretical knowledge and evidence-based clinical practice, and gain a professional understanding of current debates and issues in the area of specialisation. The diploma focuses on improving students’ clinical skills and ability to provide high level support and care to people with cancer and their families and friends.
Comprising six courses, three of which have an oncology focus, the diploma can be undertaken full-time over one year or part-time over two years. Courses are delivered online with only one two-day campus workshop per semester, ensuring the program is particularly suitable for rural or remote nurses.
Graduates have a rigorous grounding in oncology care competencies and are prepared for senior positions working within oncology care.
